ICLON Knowledge Base in 12 teaching-learning principles

ICLON is the Leiden University graduate school of teaching and an interfaculty education expertise center. ICLON provides Teacher education programs for initial and continuing teacher professional development in both pre-service and in-service contexts.  The ICLON educational research group studies all aspects of the teaching-learning environments in all educational levels. The research program is extensive (with more than 50 ongoing PhD projects) and aimed at better understanding and improving educational practice.

The theoretically and empirically underpinned knowledge base from the research program is worked out into 12 teaching-learning principles. These principles can be used to guide both the content and the method of initial and continuing professional development of teachers as well as innovations in education.
